Behar: Trump picking Marjorie Taylor Greene as VP would keep comics in business

By Jake Beardslee · January 19, 2024

In brief…

  • Joy Behar said Marjorie Taylor Greene would be a funny VP pick for Trump in 2024.
  • Greene has said she'd consider being Trump's running mate if asked.
  • Greene's politics align closely with Trump's, so she could appeal to his supporters.
On The View, Joy Behar jokingly said picking far-right Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene as his running mate in 2024 would "keep comedians in business" if Trump runs again.  Gage Skidmore from Surprise, AZ, United States of America/Wikimedia

In a segment of “The View” on Thursday, host Joy Behar made the case for why Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) would make an ideal running mate for Donald Trump in 2024. Though said partly in jest, Behar argued that picking Greene as VP would “keep comedians in business for four years.”

Behar’s comments came after co-host Whoopi Goldberg speculated that Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) could be a potential VP pick for Trump. “If he has a sense of humor, he’ll pick Marjorie Taylor Greene,” Behar remarked. “That’ll keep comedians in business for four years.”

In August 2023, Greene told The Guardian that being Trump’s running mate is “talked about frequently” and that she’d be honored and would “consider it” if asked.
