Lynne Spears, the mother of pop icon Britney Spears, is reportedly facing tough financial times and has taken up substitute teaching to make ends meet.
The 68-year-old is said to be having difficulty paying bills after a “complicated relationship” with Britney damaged her finances.
While Lynne’s Instagram lists her profession as a Rodan + Fields consultant, which can earn up to $110,000 per year, an anonymous source told The Daily Mail she has been substituting at a local school.
Lynne previously ran a preschool and daycare center when her kids were young.
Last year, Lynne requested Britney pay over $660,000 in legal fees Lynne accrued as an “interested party” in Britney’s conservatorship case.
Lynne’s lawyers argued the amount was minimal compared to the “millions and millions” spent by sister Jamie Spears during the conservatorship. However, Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, denied the request, noting Britney had paid Lynne’s living expenses for years, including $1.7 million for a home Lynne lived in.
Lynne withdrew her request six months later. Britney and Lynne briefly reconciled in May, but are reportedly not speaking again after issues arose after Sam Asghari filed for divorce from Britney in August.
While Lynne struggles financially, Britney has had success with new projects, including a song with Will.I.Am and an upcoming memoir. She will also reap revenues from an upcoming theatrical re-release of her 2002 film Crossroads.
