As world leaders converge on New York City for the annual United Nations General Assembly, a different type of gathering is taking place in the shadows. High-end escorts have flocked to the city from as far away as Las Vegas and Europe to cater to diplomats with a different take on the meaning of bilateral relations.
New York’s escort business typically increases 20-25% during the United Nations General Assembly week, with per-session charges running as high as $5,000, according to sources.
“Diplomats go crazy because they’re so repressed where they are. They don’t have these girls [in their home countries],” a source told the New York Post.
Another source explained that politicians prefer to keep their sexual exploits discreet, opting for high-end escorts over strip clubs.
“They’re not going to risk Googling ‘escorts,’” the source said. “The part of town they stay in [Midtown] is the hub of the high-end hooker business.”
A source revealed that VIP rooms are booked up for the week, with well-heeled diplomats shelling out anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 in a single night.
“You look around and it’s not the usual crowd of regulars,” the source said.
