The exchange stems from a July post on Truth Social where Trump criticized Clooney, describing him as a "fake movie actor" and stating, "Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!"  Ryan Garza / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

During the interview, Kimmel also brought up Clooney's influential July op-ed in The New York Times, which called for President Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.

Clooney, known for his significant contributions to Democratic fundraising efforts, downplayed the impact of his op-ed.

He emphasized the difficulty of relinquishing power and praised Biden's decision, saying, "The bottom line is that it's very hard to let go of power and President Biden did something really extraordinary."  Courtney / Wikimedia

The 63-year-old actor acknowledged the potential risks associated with such a move, admitting with a laugh that it "Could've gone very badly," and adding, "It could still go badly."  Courtney / Wikimedia
