Former Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger criticized former President Donald Trump’s Christmas message on social media, stating that Christians who support Trump “don’t understand” their own religion.
On the social media platform X, Kinzinger responded to Trump’s Christmas post, saying “I’m going to go out on a NOT limb here: this man is not a Christian. If you are a Christian who supports him you don’t understand your own religion.” Kinzinger, who served on the House select committee investigating the January 6th attack on the Capitol, said Trump is “weak, meager, smelly, victim-ey, belly-achey, but he ain’t a Christian and he’s not ‘God’s man.’”
In his Christmas message posted on Truth Social, Trump called for “Crooked Joe Biden’s ONLY HOPE, Deranged Jack Smith, the out of control Lunatic.” He took aim at President Biden, Special Counsel Jack Smith, world leaders and American lawmakers, stating “they are looking to destroy our once great USA.”
Kinzinger has become isolated from most Republicans after serving on the committee investigating January 6th. He did not seek reelection in 2022. Trump remains the favorite for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination according to polls.
