Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has been selected to lead a newly-formed House subcommittee aimed at improving government efficiency.
The appointment comes amid ongoing debates about Greene's controversial political history and her role in congressional oversight.

DOGE, spearheaded by tech mogul Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, is set to function as an advisory body despite not being an official government entity. This initiative, under the Trump administration, aims to vigorously address issues of waste, fraud, and inefficiency within government operations.

Greene, alongside House Oversight Chairman James Comer of Kentucky, has already engaged in discussions with Ramaswamy and his team, according to a source familiar with the matter who
spoke to CNBC on Thursday
. The establishment of the subcommittee is anticipated early next year, as per the source.

The congressional subcommittee, titled the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency, shares its acronym with the external DOGE organization commissioned by former President Donald Trump.

A spokesperson for Ramaswamy emphasized the importance of public awareness in driving government efficiency. “A key step to driving greater efficiency in government is exposing the problem to the public,” the spokesperson

. They also expressed gratitude towards the House Oversight Committee for creating the DOGE subcommittee, adding, “We look forward to working together.”
