RFK Jr. Hit With Impeachment Filing
By Jake Beardslee · December 21, 2025
Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) has formally introduced articles of impeachment against Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., accusing him of abandoning scientific standards.
Stevens announced the filing in a statement sharply critical of Kennedy’s leadership at the Department of Health and Human Services. “Today, I formally introduced articles of impeachment against Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. RFK Jr. has turned his back on science and the safety of the American people. Michiganders cannot take another day of his chaos,” she said.
Supporters of Kennedy have downplayed the effort, describing it as largely symbolic. Legal analysts have similarly noted that impeachment proceedings against executive branch officials face significant hurdles, particularly in a closely divided Congress.
In response, HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon rejected the impeachment effort, characterizing it as politically motivated. “Secretary Kennedy remains focused on the work of improving Americans’ health and lowering costs, not on partisan political stunts,” Nixon said.
The filing comes amid a separate impeachment push by Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.), who has moved to impeach Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Thanedar alleged serious misconduct in a statement outlining his rationale for that action.
Taken together, the filings underscore intensifying partisan conflict in Washington, as well as divisions within the Democratic Party over public health leadership and national security policy.
