In brief…
- Trump shared post on Truth Social criticizing plans to move FBI headquarters from current D.C. location
- Argued FBI should stay in D.C. and help restore city struggling with crime
- Part of Trump's platform is revitalizing D.C. as the "crown jewel" of the nation
- Urged "Don't move the FBI," said it should make current location the safest on earth
Former President Donald Trump recently shared a post on his Truth Social platform criticizing plans to relocate the FBI headquarters from its current location in Washington, D.C. Trump argued the FBI should “stay right where it is, in a new and spectacular building, in the best location” instead of moving to a “far away location.”
Trump claimed the FBI should be involved in “bringing back D.C., not running away from it.” He pointed to rising violent crime in the city, describing D.C. as “now crime ridden and filthy dirty, graffiti scarred.” Part of Trump’s presidential platform involves restoring Washington D.C. to being the “crown jewel” of the nation by making it “crime free and GREAT AGAIN.”
The former president asserted the FBI should not be “fleeing for safer, yet much less convenient, environs.” Instead, he argued the agency should “make where they are now the safest place on earth!” Trump ended the post by urging “DON’T MOVE THE FBI!”
Plans to relocate the FBI headquarters from its current Pennsylvania Avenue location have been discussed for years, with proponents arguing a new suburban campus would improve security and efficiency.
