Group Alleges Elderly Donors’ Names Used Without Consent

The Coolidge Reagan Foundation submitted the complaint on March 26, alleging that Crockett’s campaign received donations in the name of a 73-year-old retiree who was reportedly unaware of having contributed. According to the complaint, “ActBlue has been providing thousands of dollars of contributions to Democratic candidates in the names of unsuspecting elderly people in order to allow recipients such as Rep. Crockett to shield the true source of the funds and potentially accept excessive or otherwise illegal contributions."  Josh Morgan / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

The complaint centers on 56 transactions totaling $610, attributed to Randy Best of Plano, Texas, and recorded between 2023 and 2024. Crockett’s campaign reportedly acknowledged receiving $595 from Best across 53 entries. Best’s wife, interviewed in a video by one of Crockett’s potential challengers, stated that neither she nor her husband had made the donations, according to the complaint.  cottonbro studio / Pexels

Crockett-Greene Clash Went Viral After Insult Exchange in House Hearing

In May 2024, a heated exchange occurred between Crockett and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) during a House Oversight Committee meeting. The session, intended to discuss holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt, devolved when Greene remarked that Crockett’s “fake eyelashes” were interfering with her reading comprehension.

Crockett retorted by referencing Greene’s “bleach-blonde, bad-built, butch body,” a phrase that quickly went viral and was later trademarked by Crockett for a line of fundraising merchandise.  Megan Smith-USA TODAY

Complaint Calls for FEC Probe Into ActBlue and Rep. Crockett

“Nineteen state attorneys general across the country have made inquiries into ActBlue,” according to the complaint.

The complaint urges the Federal Election Commission to take action, alleging that “The Federal Election Commission (‘FEC’), on the basis of this clear evidence, should open an investigation into both Rep. Crockett and ActBlue’s larger scheme, which has been persuasively linked to money laundering for hundreds of millions of dollars to Democratic candidates.”  U.S. Government / Wikimedia
