Over 40 FBI confidential sources allege the Justice Department shut down probes into potential criminal activity by President Joe Biden and his family, according to a letter from Sen. Chuck Grassley.
Grassley wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland that the whistleblowers from various FBI offices provided details on possible Biden crimes. But a task force at the FBI’s Washington Field Office managed to quash reporting from the sources by falsely discrediting them, the letter claims.
“There appears to be an effort within the Justice Department and FBI to shut down investigative activity relating to the Biden family,” Grassley wrote. “Such decisions point to significant political bias.”
One source claimed Joe and Hunter Biden coerced Burisma’s CEO to pay them millions in exchange for getting a Ukrainian prosecutor fired. The Bidens deny this, though the prosecutor claims they played a role in his dismissal.
In 2019, the FBI closed a kleptocracy case on the Burisma CEO opened in 2016 when Hunter’s role at the company faced scrutiny. After the case closure, President Trump requested Ukraine investigate the Bidens’ dealings there.
A 2020 FBI meeting in Pittsburgh likely discussed the Hunter Biden probe, Grassley wrote. Officials then supposedly located a form on the Burisma case deeming Hunter’s role “non-relevant” and took a month to re-interview the source.
After re-interviewing, a document alleging the Biden criminal scheme was filed in June 2020. But pauses in assessing it were frequent, Grassley said.
An FBI analyst then supposedly worked to discredit confidential sources on the Bidens as foreign disinformation.
“Findings indicated potential criminal activity, including money laundering,” Grassley wrote, demanding answers by Nov. 17.
