Marjorie Taylor Greene Says She’s ‘Not Considering’ a Presidential Run
By Jake Beardslee · November 18, 2025
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s recent clashes with President Donald Trump and numerous Republican lawmakers have fueled speculation that she may be positioning herself for a 2028 presidential bid. Questions about her political future surfaced again in a Vanity Fair profile published Nov. 17, where the Georgia Republican was repeatedly pressed on whether she is eyeing the White House.
According to Vanity Fair, Greene initially responded to speculation by saying, “Well, I’ve burned down the military-industrial complex, Big Pharma, now the health insurance industry, pretty much ever group that lobbies up here in Washington D.C.” When directly asked if she was running for president, Greene replied, “I have never said I was running for president.” After a final round of questioning, she added: “Uh, I am not considering running for president. I’m literally trying with every soul (sic) in my body to just do this current job.”
Once considered one of Trump’s most loyal MAGA allies, Greene has since been pushed to the margins by the president after spending much of his first year back in office criticizing her own party and challenging House Speaker Mike Johnson. Their estrangement has also been shaped by Greene’s calls to release government files related to Jeffrey Epstein and her vocal warnings about rising health care costs during the shutdown.
Trump publicly confirmed last week that he had broken with Greene, calling her “wacky” and assigning her the new nickname “Marjorie Traitor Greene.” He suggested that her recent shift was due to his decision not to endorse her in Georgia’s Senate primary and dismissed her appearance on “The View” as an act of defiance. The tension escalated after Greene described it as an “embarrassment” that the GOP-led House remained out of session a month into the shutdown. Trump wrote on social media, “All I see ‘Wacky’ Marjorie do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN!” He said he would no longer support her and encouraged other Republicans to challenge her in the 2026 primary for Georgia’s 14th District.
Greene pushed back, writing, “I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump. I worship God, Jesus is my savior, and I serve my district GA14 and the American people.” Despite the escalating feud, she told CNN’s Dana Bash on Nov. 16 that she hopes the pair can eventually reconcile. “I certainly hope that we can make up,” Greene said. “I can only speak for myself. I’m a Christian, and one of the most important parts of our faith is forgiveness, and that’s something I’m committed to.”
