Actor and former professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently revealed he received visits from political parties at the end of 2022 about potentially running for president.

Johnson discussed the matter on Trevor Noah’s Spotify show “What Now?” He said the visits came after a 2021 poll showed 46% of U.S. adults would support Johnson as a candidate, despite the actor previously stating he would not “rule out” a presidential bid.

“If that’s ultimately what the people would want, then of course I would consider it,” Johnson told Noah.

“It was a big deal…and they brought up that poll. They also brought up their own deep-dive research and data that would prove, should I ever decide to go down that road,” Johnson said of the visits.

“It was all very surreal because that’s never been my goal. My goal has never been to be in politics,” he added.

Known for films like “Moana” and the “Fast & Furious” movies, Johnson said in a 2016 interview he had considered running for governor or president.

In 2021, Johnson posted a meme of himself on Instagram with the caption: “I don’t think our Founding Fathers EVER envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack wearing guy joining their club - but if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve you, the people.”
