Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has fired back at tech mogul Elon Musk for making an unfounded claim about Democrats' immigration stance.

Musk had shared a headline from
The Daily Caller
suggesting
the Biden administration was considering amnesty for undocumented immigrants, captioning it with the assertion that Democrats want to "import voters," in a post on X.

Ocasio-Cortez responded, "You're literally an immigrant," noting that Musk himself was born in South Africa before moving to Canada and then the United States.

She added, "And for everyone saying 'yeah, but legal!!' may I once again remind you that seeking asylum is legal, too."

Neither the headline Musk shared nor the accompanying article mentioned anything about "importing voters" as he claimed.

Last September, Musk
dismissed
Ocasio-Cortez as "just not that smart" after she said more migrants historically entered through Ellis Island than were currently crossing the Rio Grande illegally.

Ocasio-Cortez responded, "I wasn't born rich and became the youngest woman in American history to be elected to Congress...Then I investigated Cohen, authored the largest FEMA funeral assistance program in history and led creation of a US Climate Corps to create tens of thousands of new jobs."

Musk
recently visited
the US-Mexico border with Republican congressman Tony Gonzales.

During the visit, Musk claimed, "We are in this absurd situation where the vast majority of people are not in fact asylum seekers - you can actually read on Google in any language you want what are the magic words you need to say."

Ocasio-Cortez critcized Musk and Gonzales, tweeting, "The House is holding important votes in DC tonight, people are scrambling to avoid a shutdown, but this Republican Congressman decided to skip town to joyride with a billionaire when his own party has just a single-digit margin and needs his vote."
