Trump's post asserted that Sheinbaum "has agreed to stop Migration through Mexico, and into the United States, effectively closing our Southern Border."
According to the former president, the conversation also centered on combating drug trafficking. "We also talked about what can be done to stop the massive drug inflow into the United States, and also, U.S. consumption of these drugs," Trump wrote, characterizing the discussion as "a very productive conversation!"

The conversation comes amid heightened tensions between the United States and Mexico, with
Trump recently proposing a 25 percent tariff
on Mexican goods and Sheinbaum previously warning of potential retaliatory measures.

Sheinbaum
argued
that the proposed tariffs would trigger significant economic damage, predicting widespread inflation and substantial job losses in both nations. Notably, she redirected the conversation about drug trafficking, asserting that drugs are fundamentally U.S. problem, not a Mexican problem.

Despite the confrontational rhetoric, Sheinbaum struck a conciliatory tone. She "offered to speak with Trump about the issue, noting that 'dialogue is the best path to achieve understanding.'"

The Mexican leader highlighted broader discussions that extended beyond migration, noting that she and Trump explored avenues for strengthening bilateral security cooperation and addressing the ongoing challenge of fentanyl consumption.
