A Baby Teething Toy Is Being Recalled Because Of A String

By Erica Coleman · June 19, 2026

The toy is designed for teething infants. It has six silicone pull strings. Those strings, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, are smaller and longer than federal safety standards allow — and can reach the back of a child’s throat.

GOPO Toys has recalled approximately 70,410 Pull String Teething Toys after three reported incidents in which infants experienced respiratory distress or choking. The toys were sold exclusively on Amazon between August 2023 and March 2026, priced between $11 and $15. No deaths have been reported.

Check your home now if you have an infant.

The recalled toy has an off-white disc shape with a grey ball in the center and six multi-colored silicone tentacle-style pull strings. The brand name “GOPO TOYS” and “Pull String Toy” are printed on the front of the packaging. The batch number is printed on the back.

Recalled batch numbers: 250905, 250530, 250120, 240315, 231005, and 230610.

If your toy carries any of these batch numbers, stop using it immediately and follow the refund process below.

How to get your refund:

GOPO Toys requires a specific process before issuing a refund. You must cut all silicone strings from the toy, write the word “DESTROYED” in permanent marker on the main body of the toy, and photograph the destroyed product. Email the photo to recalls@gopotoys.com. Once submitted, the company will process your refund. Do not simply throw the toy away without completing this process — the documentation is required.

You can also call GOPO Toys at 1-800-445-2344 with questions about the recall.

The teething toys violate the mandatory federal toy safety standard because the silicone strings are both smaller in diameter and longer than permitted under federal regulation. When an infant pulls the strings — which is the entire purpose of the toy — they can extend far enough to become lodged at the back of the throat. Three families have already reported this happening. The CPSC classified the hazard as a risk of serious injury or death.

Who else might have this product:

Pull string teething toys are popular gift items for baby showers and first birthdays. If you purchased this toy as a gift or know a caregiver, grandparent, or family member who may have one, share this recall information with them directly. The toy was available on Amazon for nearly three years, meaning it could be in many homes where the recall notice won’t reach automatically.

If you purchased the toy through Amazon, check your order history. Amazon typically sends recall notifications to affected buyers but those emails can be missed. Cross-reference your purchase history against the recalled batch numbers above.
