Analysts Downgrade Lauren Boebert’s Former District From ‘Likely Republican’ Status

The political landscape in Colorado is showing signs of transformation as Representative Lauren Boebert's former congressional district faces increased competitive pressure.  Gage Skidmore / Wikimedia

According to The Cook Political Report, Boebert's previous 3rd District has been downgraded from "likely Republican" to "lean Republican," signaling potential vulnerability in the GOP's hold on the seat.  Gage Skidmore / Wikimedia

While Boebert herself has moved to campaign in the more conservative 4th District following Representative Ken Buck's retirement, her Democratic opponent Trisha Calvarese has shown surprising fundraising strength.  @trisha4colorado / X

According to OpenSecrets, Calvarese raised over $500,000 in early October alone, though still trailing Boebert's total of $4.48 million.  @trisha4colorado / X

Tensions between the candidates became evident during a September debate where, according to Calvarese, Boebert "melted down" when confronted about her voting record on veterans' benefits.  Gage Skidmore / Wikimedia

Calvarese claimed on X that Boebert was left "floundering to try to defend her disgraceful record on veterans," with "no explanation as to why she missed crucial house votes."  @trisha4colorado / X

The New Republic noted that while Boebert maintains a lead, it "seems to be mostly thanks to the heavily Republican makeup of the district, rather than any tactful campaigning."  Jack Gruber-USA TODAY

The district's strong Republican lean (R+13 according to the Cook Partisan Voting Index) suggests favorable odds for Boebert, despite the challenges.  Anna Lynn Winfrey/The Pueblo Chieftain / USA TODAY NETWORK
