Gas-X Extra Strength Has Been Recalled Nationwide. Here’s What You Need To Know
By Erica Coleman · June 8, 2026
Haleon, the company that makes Gas-X, voluntarily recalled four lots of Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels on June 4 after discovering that a machine used in the packaging process had leaked coolant into the capsules. The Food and Drug Administration confirmed the recall and posted the full details on its website.
The affected product is specific: Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels 125mg, available in 120-count and 72-count bottles, distributed on or around April 13, 2026. The capsules are green, and the packaging has a green band. If you have a bottle of Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels at home that you purchased in the past two months, the first thing to do is find the lot number printed on the bottle.
Recalled lot numbers: TL8K, YH9X, and YH9Y — all with an expiration date of November 30, 2028.
If your bottle matches any of those lot numbers, stop taking it immediately.
The coolant that may have contaminated the capsules is a diluted propylene glycol-based substance that leaked from machinery during the packaging process. Propylene glycol-based coolants are not acutely toxic at small doses, but ingesting them can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Haleon said it has received no reports of adverse health events related to this recall. The company identified the source of the contamination, repaired the machine, and implemented preventive measures before issuing the recall.
What to do if you have an affected bottle:
Stop using the product immediately and contact Haleon to arrange a return and get a full refund. You can reach the company’s Consumer Relations team at 1-800-245-1040 Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM Eastern, or by email at mystory.us@haleon.com. If you’ve experienced any symptoms you think might be related, contact your doctor and report the adverse event to Haleon or through the FDA’s MedWatch program.
What’s not affected:
Haleon was clear that only Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels are part of this recall. Other Gas-X products — the chewable tablets, the regular strength formulations, and any other variants — are not included.
The FDA recall page is publicly accessible at fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts and has the full product details for verification.
