American gymnastics sensation Simone Biles has added another gold to her impressive Olympic collection, bringing her total medal count to 10. In Saturday's vault apparatus final at the Paris Olympics, Biles outperformed Brazil's Rebeca Andrade to claim her third gold of the games and seventh overall.

The podium was completed by Andrade taking silver and American Jade Carey securing bronze, a redemption after her disappointing performance in Tokyo.

Despite speculation about her future in the sport, Biles hasn't ruled out competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. "Never say never," Biles remarked,
according to NBC News
. "The next Olympics is at home, so you just never know, but I am getting really old."

This victory holds particular significance for Biles, coming on the same apparatus where she experienced the "twisties" in Tokyo, leading to widespread criticism. Addressing the negative comments she received, Biles stated, "The negative comments, they're painful after a certain point. They hurt, but I'm still in therapy working on all that stuff to just make sure my mental health is well." She added, "They're really quiet now."

Biles' winning performance included her signature "Biles II" vault, the most challenging in women's gymnastics, earning a 15.700. Her second vault, a "Cheng," scored 14.900, resulting in an average of 15.300.

The competition was fierce, with Andrade closely matching Biles in execution but falling slightly behind in difficulty. Andrade's impressive performance earned her a 14.966 average.

This victory adds to Biles' growing list of accomplishments in Paris. She became the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history earlier in the week and is now the first American and third gymnast ever to win multiple Olympic all-around gold medals.

Reflecting on her close rivalry with Andrade, Biles humorously remarked, "I don't want to compete with Rebeca no more. I'm tired. She's way too close. I've never had an athlete that close, so it definitely put me on my toes and brought out the best athlete in myself."

While Biles hasn't announced her retirement, she playfully suggested she might be ready to pass the torch, saying, "I'm going to hand it to her now — she can have the rest."
