Steve Bannon Warns Wisconsin Court Win Could Trigger Third Trump Impeachment

Bannon Sounds Alarm After Wisconsin Supreme Court Election Loss
Steve Bannon, former chief strategist to Donald Trump, has expressed serious concern over the potential political fallout from the recent Wisconsin Supreme Court election. During his War Room podcast, Bannon warned that the victory of liberal-leaning Judge Susan Crawford could lead to the Republicans losing two key congressional seats. This, he believes, might place them “right on the cliff, the edge” of a third impeachment effort against former President Trump. Jack Gruber / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
Contradictory Outcome: Voter ID Approved, Conservative Candidate Defeated
Bannon’s remarks follow Crawford’s defeat of conservative-backed candidate Brad Schimel in Tuesday’s election. Simultaneously, Wisconsin voters approved a voter ID referendum — a result Bannon described as a contradiction. “It won big league, yet we lost the Supreme Court seat… We’re going to lose two congressional seats; that’s just a fact,” he said. Wisconsin’s District Map Under Fire: Gerrymandering in the Spotlight
The liberal majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court may now reconsider a previously declined lawsuit that challenges the state’s congressional district map. Currently, only two out of eight seats are held by Democrats in what many consider a politically balanced, "purple" state. Representative Mark Pocan, a Wisconsin Democrat, echoed this sentiment, telling Yahoo News, “If you have two seats out of eight in a purple, 50-50 state, clearly there’s gerrymandering going on.” US House Office of Photography / Wikimedia
Bannon Warns of Redistricting Power Play by Democrats
Bannon fears Democrats could use this judicial shift to redraw the districts in their favor. “These radical Democrats… didn't put this kind of money in not to take those two seats,” he said. “Those two seats put us right on the cliff, the edge, of them trying to impeach President Trump.” The Arizona Republic-USA TODAY NETWORK
Trump’s Impeachment History Looms Over 2026 Strategy
Trump was previously impeached twice during his presidency, first in 2019 on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, and again in 2021 for inciting an insurrection. Both efforts failed to achieve the necessary two-thirds Senate majority for conviction. Jack Gruber-USA TODAY
GOP Majority in Jeopardy: “Trump’s Agenda Hangs by a Thread”
Currently, the GOP maintains a narrow hold on Congress, but that balance could shift during the 2026 midterms. Bannon stressed the stakes, saying, “President Trump’s agenda hangs by a thread… it’s one battle in a continuing war against people who still control the apparatus.” Dominik Gryzbon / Pexels
