Unemployment claims in the United States hit a six-month low last week, according to data released by the
Labor Department
on Thursday.

The agency reported that jobless claim applications dropped by 4,000 to 217,000 for the week ending November 9, marking the lowest level since May. This figure came in below the anticipated 225,000 by market analysts.

The moving average over four weeks, used to smooth out weekly volatility, also saw a decline, dropping by 6,250 to reach 221,000.

This average provides a clearer picture of the employment landscape, suggesting that the rate of layoffs in the U.S. remains at a manageable level.
