Ariana Grande Slams Trump, Asks Supporters if It’s ‘Worth the Suffering’

Pop Star Questions Trump Supporters’ Expectations
Ariana Grande delivered a sharp rebuke to Donald Trump’s supporters, asking whether the economic outcomes they hoped for have truly materialized. The singer reposted a message on social media that asked if the president kept his promises to lower health insurance premiums and grocery prices. It also questioned whether any such changes were “worth the suffering of immigrants and transgender people or attacks on free speech,” and whether the current political climate is making them “happier.” Kevork Djansezian-USA TODAY
History of Criticism Toward Trump
This is not Grande’s first time speaking out about Trump’s policies. In June, she shared a meme asking “which crimes get people deported, and which get people elected president,” a pointed reference to Trump’s legal troubles. She has also criticized Trump’s proposed TikTok restrictions and used her platform to highlight concerns over his administration’s approach to civil rights and free expression. Political Commentary on SNL and Beyond
Grande brought her political opinions to a national stage during her October appearance on Saturday Night Live. “The last time I hosted was in 2016 and we were right on the verge of electing our first female president,” she said, referencing Hillary Clinton’s loss to Trump. “So I guess, second time’s a charm,” she added, indicating support of Vice President Kamala Harris. After Trump’s most recent election win, she posted, “Holding the hand of every person who is feeling the immeasurable heaviness of this outcome today,” expressing solidarity with those dismayed by the result. Trump’s Economic Boasts and Legal Issues
Grande’s repost came as Trump continues to highlight what he describes as a strong economic record. White House Press Secretary Kush Desai recently stated, “America’s economic resurgence under President Trump continues: revised data show even stronger real GDP growth of 3.8 percent in Q2 2025 thanks to the Trump agenda of tax cuts, deregulation, tariffs, and energy abundance.” He added, “President Trump pledged to Make America Wealthy Again, and with Joe Biden’s inflation crisis tamed, we are now laying the groundwork for a long-term restoration of American Greatness.”Despite these claims, critics point out that household costs remain high and that Trump’s policies have affected immigrants and LGBTQ communities. The president has faced significant legal challenges, including a 2024 conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records connected to a hush-money case. The White House / Wikimedia
