CNN’s Harry Enten Pushes Back on Trump Voter Regret Narrative
CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten said recent polling does not support claims that large numbers of Trump voters regret their 2024 decision. Speaking with anchor John Berman on Wednesday, Enten cited data suggesting voter regret among that group remains low. Harrison Jones - THE USA TODAY NETWORK PA / USA TODAY NETWORK
“Very Few of Them Regret What They Did,” Enten Says
“I hear all these stories, all these articles, all the Trump voters, they regret what they did back in 2024. I’m here to tell you, uh-uh. Very few of them regret what they did back in 2024,” Enten told Berman. Live From America Podcast / Wikimedia
Poll: Only 2% Would Change 2024 Vote
Citing a recent YouGov poll, Enten explained that fewer than 5% of Trump voters expressed any form of regret. Specifically, only 2% said they would vote for someone else if given the chance, while 1% said they would abstain from voting altogether. Mikhail Nilov / Pexels
Redo Wouldn’t Change Outcome, Enten Suggests
“If folks got to be able to redo their vote that they had back in 2024, would the result be any different? I doubt it would be,” he added. “The bottom line is for all this talk of Trump voters regretting their vote in the numbers, it really just doesn’t show up.” Audrey Richardson and Ryan Garza / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
Numbers Mirror Past Trends and Harris Voters
Enten also noted that these findings aren’t far off from data collected during Trump’s first term in 2017, when 4% of his voters said they would have made a different choice. Interestingly, voter regret among supporters of then-Vice President Kamala Harris was "rather similar" to Trump figures in the current polling, Enten said. Saul Loeb-Pool via Imagn Images
