Marjorie Taylor Greene to Trump White House: ‘I Do Not Work for You’

Greene Accuses Agencies of Withholding Key Epstein Information

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) escalated her criticism of federal agencies, claiming the FBI, CIA, and Department of Justice are concealing crucial details about Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking network. Greene argued, “The truth needs to come out and the government holds” it, as she accused the Trump administration of blocking bipartisan efforts to release the so-called Epstein files.  Josh Morgan / USA TODAY NETWORK

Pushback From Trump Officials

Greene recently told The New York Times, “You didn’t get me elected. I do not work for you; I work for my district.” Greene added that she refused to let threats like “We’ll primary you” or exclusion from White House events determine her vote.  John Blackie/jblackie@pnj.com / USA TODAY NETWORK

Bipartisan Petition Gains Momentum

Greene is one of four Republicans—alongside Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), and Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.)—backing a discharge petition to force a House vote on releasing the documents. All Democratic representatives have already signed the petition, leaving it with 216 signatures. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) told The Independent that a vote could happen as early as Monday, once Arizona Democrat Adelita Grijalva is sworn in.  Josh Morgan-USA TODAY

Trump Distances Himself From Epstein Controversy

Despite once promising to release the “Epstein files” during his second-term campaign, Donald Trump has since dismissed the issue, reportedly calling the effort “total bulls***” and labeling it “a Democrat hoax that never ends.” The Justice Department and FBI earlier attempted to close the investigation with a brief memo asserting that no “client list” exists and that Epstein died in prison.  Jack Gruber-USA TODAY via Imagn Images

High-Profile Names Emerge in Released Records

The House Oversight Committee recently subpoenaed the Justice Department for documents related to Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence. Democrats on the committee have already released material from Epstein’s estate, revealing scheduled meetings with figures such as former Trump adviser Steve Bannon, Prince Andrew, and venture capitalist Peter Thiel.  Mark Stebnicki / Pexels
