With 99% of votes counted, Sandu captured 55% of the total, though she notably lost within Moldova's borders while securing overwhelming support from the diaspora,

In her victory address, Sandu struck a unifying tone,
stating
"Moldova, you are victorious! ... In our choice for a dignified future, no one lost."
She acknowledged both supporter bases, saying "I have heard your voice – both those who supported me and those who voted for Mr. Stoianoglo. I commit to being the president for all of you."

The Socialist Party contested the results,
declaring
"Maia Sandu is an illegitimate president, recognised only by her sponsors and supporters abroad. The people of Moldova feel betrayed and robbed."

The election faced allegations of Russian interference, with Sandu's security adviser Stanislav Secrieru noting in a post on X, "massive interference by Russia in our electoral process ... an effort with high potential to distort the outcome."

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky
remarked
that "Moldovans have made a clear choice – they chose a path toward economic growth and social stability," pledging stronger bilateral ties.
The vote occurred against a backdrop of economic challenges, including pandemic recovery and energy supply disruptions following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
