President Donald Trump’s approval rating has taken a dip in several new national polls, though the overall trend remains inconsistent. According to a J.L. Partners/Daily Mail survey conducted June 6 among 1,006 registered voters, Trump’s approval rating now stands at 47 percent, with 53 percent disapproving. That’s a net approval of minus six. The result marks a decline from 50 percent in May but remains higher than April’s low of 45 percent. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

A separate YouGov/Economist poll conducted June 6 through 9 showed Trump’s approval at 43 percent, down two points from the prior week. His disapproval rating rose to 52 percent. That poll had a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

Other polls paint a more favorable picture. A recent ActiVote poll showed Trump’s approval improving slightly to 46 percent compared to 45 percent last month. The Trafalgar Group reported 54 percent of voters approve, with 46 percent disapproving.

Trump’s fluctuating ratings come on the heels of his “Liberation Day” tariffs in April, which briefly rattled markets. While some polls suggest continued fallout, others indicate recovery. “The numbers from May are also significantly better than Trump’s average over the 48 months of his first presidency (41 percent),” Newsweek noted. The report also said the latest figures surpass President Biden’s full-term average of 41 percent and his final-year approval rating of 40 percent.

Trump’s economic and immigration policies remain key influences on public opinion. With several polls showing either small gains or stable numbers, Trump appears to be maintaining support among his base while facing ongoing resistance from critics.
