Breakdown of Funds

Of the total settlement, $22 million will go to the Trust for the National Mall to fund the construction of a White House state ballroom — a project Trump has pushed since returning to office, according to CBS News. The remaining $2.5 million will be distributed to other plaintiffs, including the American Conservative Union and individuals such as Andrew Baggiani, Austen Fletcher, Maryse Veronica Jean-Louis, Frank Valentine, Kelly Victory, and Naomi Wolf.  Pixabay / Pexels

Settlements With Other Platforms

This marks another payout Trump has secured from tech companies that suspended his accounts after January 6. Previous settlements included agreements with Meta’s Facebook and Instagram, as well as Twitter, now known as X.  Robert Deutsch-Imagn Images

No Admission of Liability

According to the court filing, the settlement “shall not constitute an admission of liability or fault on the part of the Defendants or their agents, servants, or employees, and is entered into by all Parties for the sole purpose of compromising disputed claims and avoiding the expenses and risks of further litigation.”  KATRIN BOLOVTSOVA / Pexels

YouTube’s 2021 Suspension

YouTube initially suspended Trump’s account shortly after January 6. At the time, the company stated: “After review, and in light of concerns about the ongoing potential for violence, we removed new content uploaded to Donald J. Trump’s channel for violating our policies. It now has its 1st strike & is temporarily prevented from uploading new content for a minimum of 7 days.” The account was reinstated in 2023.  freestocks.org / Pexels
