Former White House physician Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) expressed renewed concerns about President Biden’s health and cognitive abilities as the president turns 81 years old. “I’ve been saying for quite some time now, when he was candidate Joe Biden, that I didn’t think that he had the cognitive ability to do the job,” Jackson said on “FOX & Friends” Monday.
Jackson pointed to growing worries even “from the left” about Biden’s fitness to serve. “He’s got these people that surround him that are inappropriately encouraging him to continue to run because it builds up who they are and what they do. But our border, our wars overseas, our economy, you know, it’s just a disaster right now. And he just can’t do the job,” Jackson stated.
The congressman believes Biden has “degenerated” cognitively over the past three years and emphasized that the demands of the presidency are too much for him to handle. “He can’t do this at all,” Jackson said, warning that Biden lacks the capacity to serve as commander-in-chief or run for re-election given his current condition.
Jackson made his comments shortly after Texas Governor Greg Abbott offered his endorsement of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential bid at a rally on Sunday. “Today, I am proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for President,” Abbott tweeted. “Now more than ever, America needs a President who will secure the border and prioritize national security. President Trump is the clear choice to get the job done.”
At the rally, Trump pledged that if re-elected he would “launch the largest mass deportation effort in American history” and reinstate his controversial “Remain in Mexico” asylum policy. The former president, who is also 77, joined Abbott in Edinburg, Texas to serve tamales to state troopers deployed to the border.
