Musk, Ramaswamy to Host Weekly ‘DOGEcast’ Podcast on Government Efficiency

By Jake Beardslee · November 21, 2024

Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has revealed plans to launch a weekly podcast called "DOGEcast" with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The podcast will document their work in the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative established by President-elect Donald Trump.  Justin Pacheco / Gage Skidmore / Wikimedia

Ramaswamy explained in a video posted on X, "We want to bring the public along with us, to lift the curtain, to take us behind the scenes of what exactly that waste, fraud and abuse of government looks like - however bad you think it is, it's probably worse."  Gage Skidmore / Wikimedia

The announcement has sparked both interest and controversy. Harvard Professor Theda Skocpol called DOGE and the podcast "a gimmick meant to entertain hard core MAGA people and distract the media from corruption and social benefit cuts," Newsweek reported.  Miller Center / Wikimedia

Concerns have been raised about potential conflicts of interest, particularly regarding Musk's involvement. Public policy expert Donald Moynihan told Newsweek that "Musk has enormous and multiple conflicts of interest that should prohibit him from working in the Trump administration," adding that "It becomes impossible to maintain the claim that the government will not now favor Musk when he has power over their agencies."  Jasper Colt/USA TODAY / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
