Angus Cloud, the breakout star who portrayed Fez on HBO’s hit show Euphoria, has died at the age of 25. His family confirmed Cloud’s passing in a statement to TMZ, indicating that the actor had been struggling emotionally after the recent death of his father.
“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today,” read the statement from Cloud’s family. “As an artist, a friend, a brother, and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. Last week, he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health, and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this in silence. We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter, and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”
Cloud rose to fame in 2019 when he was cast as the fan-favorite character Fezco on Euphoria. His emotional performance and natural charisma quickly made him a standout on the show. While Euphoria marked Cloud’s big break in Hollywood, he had been working toward an acting career for years after dropping out of college in 2013 to pursue screen stardom.
Cloud often spoke about his close relationship with his father and credited him for supporting his acting ambitions. According to Cloud’s family, the two were best friends. Cloud was reportedly deeply affected by his father’s recent passing, which, according to his family, exacerbated his existing mental health issues.
According to news reports, Cloud’s mother called 911 reporting a ‘possible overdose’ yesterday morning.
