Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden Welcome Baby Nautas

Cameron Diaz spent nearly a decade building the life she actually wanted — not the one the entertainment industry expected her to want. She left Hollywood in 2014, got married quietly in 2015, became a mother for the first time at 47, and came back to film exactly one movie in 2025 because she wanted to, not because she had to.

On Sunday, Benji Madden announced on Instagram that the couple had welcomed their third child — a baby boy named Nautas. He is 47. She is 53.

“Cameron and I are Happy, Excited, and feeling so BLESSED to announce the birth of our third Child, Nautas Madden,” Madden wrote. “Welcome to the world Son. We love life with our family — our kids are healthy and happy, and we are grateful. Having a blast… Sending all our best wishes — the Madden Family.”

Diaz commented on the post with heart emojis. No photo of the baby was included. The announcement did not mention a surrogate, though speculation has been immediate and unconfirmed. No additional details about the birth were provided.

The name Nautas comes from the Latin nauta, meaning sailor, navigator, voyager — one who embarks on a journey and fears not the unknown. Madden included a graphic in the announcement with that definition alongside an image of a ship in full sail marked with a bold N. It is not a name chosen casually.

Nautas joins Raddix, 6, and Cardinal, 2 — three children born to a woman who was for a stretch of the early 2000s among the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, earning up to $30 million for certain projects, and who walked away from all of it to do something more private and, by her own account, more real.

Diaz has said in interviews over the years that leaving Hollywood was not a crisis but a decision — that she wanted to be present in her life in a way that the industry’s demands made impossible. She returned in 2025 for “Back in Action,” a Netflix film with Jamie Foxx, which she described as a project she chose because it felt right, not because she needed to prove something.

Whether she makes another film is a question nobody appears to be pressing her on. She has a newborn, a two-year-old, a six-year-old, and a husband who tours with a band. The name on the birth announcement is Nautas. The definition is voyager. The announcement says the Madden family is having a blast.
