According to an analysis of voting records by the Daily Kos, the district, which covers parts of the Bronx and Queens, voted for Vice President Harris by a margin of 65% to Trump's 33%.  Audrey Richardson and Ryan Garza / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

This represents a nearly 15-point swing towards Trump compared to the 2020 presidential election, when Joe Biden won the district by a margin of 77% to Trump's 22%.  Jack Gruber/USA TODAY / USA TODAY NETWORK

This shift was not isolated to AOC's district.

"New York City saw a big shift rightward on Election Night," stated David Laska, a spokesman for the New York State GOP, in an interview with the New York Post.

He attributed this change to voters' dissatisfaction with the Democratic record on inflation, immigration, and progressive policies.  cottonbro studio / Pexels

Democratic strategist Jake Dilemani noted that while AOC is seen as a "darling of the left," her district is actually "one of the most conservative parts of the Bronx."  Josh Morgan, Josh Morgan / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

The district's sizable Latino and Asian populations, which have recently shifted rightward, were crucial to Trump's performance, according to GOP political consultant Ryan Girdusky.

"If you look at the trajectory at how ethnic whites, Asians, and Hispanics are voting in New York City, they are rejecting the Democratic Party on quality-of-life issues like crime, like the migrant crisis, and they are blaming it on the Dems," Girdusky told The Post.  DAMON HIGGINS / PALM BEACH POST / USA TODAY NETWORK / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

AOC posted an Instagram video on Wednesday discussing Trump's appeal to working-class voters, stating, "We have had an enormous setback in this election because the fascists won a lot of working-class support, which has happened before in history."  @aoc / Instagram
