The microphone infamously thrown by rap star Cardi B during a July performance recently sold at auction for a whopping $99,900. The microphone was owned by audio production company The Wave. Cardi B hurled instrument into the Las Vegas crowd after a concertgoer splashed her with a drink.
The eBay auction for the Cardi B-tossed mic started at a modest $500. The bidding then quickly took off, with the winning bid coming in at an eye-popping $99,900 - all for charity.
The Wave’s Scott Fisher told TMZ he was able to retrieve the microphone from the crowd, explaining it was easy to spot because the word “MAIN” had been taped to the handle. Miraculously, said Fisher, the microphone still operates perfectly despite the velocity of Cardi B’s furious throw.
The astronomical winning bid came after Cardi B and her lawyers learned the star will face no criminal charges related to the mic-throwing incident. The fan who was struck by the mic filed a police complaint. According to Cardi B’s legal team, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s investigation officially cleared her of any wrongdoing.
